The European Championships’ 17th edition kicks off on Saturday morning AEST with hosts Germany facing Scotland in the first of 51 matches across the next month.

The Germans will be looking to win the event for a record fourth time, while Spain have also won it three times. Italy are defending champions, having beaten England in the most recent tournament.

The 24 teams have been divided into six groups of four. The top two teams of each group, plus the four highest-ranked third placed teams, will advance to the round of 16 – the first knockout stage on the way to the final.

Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland.

Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania.

Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England.

Group D: Poland, Netherlands, Austria, France.

Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine.

Group F: Turkey, Georgia, Portugal, Czechia.
